September

This month has been crazy busy.  Not much new in how life goes.  We moved into our own place in North Las Vegas. No we didn’t buy it.  It’s a fixer upper though.  We traded higher end for more space and I think we’re ok with that.  The play and living rooms are large and there is a large dirt back yard.  The girls don’t care that it’s dirt.  The dig and find rocks and get dirty.

We were given the go ahead to move into our new place on Friday the 4th.  It was a busy, busy time.  Some friends from the church ward came and helped us pack up the big things and take everything down.  We had most of the boxes already loaded into one trailer.  With their help-Eric Giles family, Chris Tingey, and a few others we were able to make two trips, get 90% of everything loaded and unloaded in 2.5 hours.

Then came the cleaning, unpacking, and reorganizing.

Moving was tiring but for the most part went quickly.  We are greatful to the friends in the Mountain Crest ward that were up and at our old place at 7 in the morning to help us move.  We had packed most things and already had them loaded into the first trailer before anyone got there.  They helped us load the remaining boxes, washer, cribs, beds, etc.  Then we placed the breakables in the vehicles.  Total unpacking time… well, I’m not done yet.

The Sunday of the move weekend, I started feeling sick.  Ok, sore throat, hopefully it wouldn’t turn into anything major.  Nope.  Someone shared their cold with me and my dad.  It closed the office for a week.  It just happened to be the week I was supposed to be in court for a case against the office.  Stupid case.  Stupid lawyer.  Enough said.

By the end of the weekend, I was 95% recovered which I’m thankful for because my Grandpa Brooksby’s 80th birthday party was on Saturday in St. George.  We packed our day bag and a few extra clothes for the girls since they are in disposables.  We headed off to St. George.  When we were mostly into the church parking lot I told Joel, maybe Dawn and Brad want to hang out over the weekend.  Too bad I didn’t pack extra clothes, we could have stayed the weekend.  Joel’s response.  I don’t mind wearing the same clothes for 2 day!  Call them!

We enjoyed my Grandpa’s party.  They had pictures of him growing up and throughout life.  It was good to see many of the cousins and aunts and uncles.  Joel was excited to see Mike and Lynn.  Since moving from Boise we don’t have once a month dinners with them anymore.  Funny how you come to love and miss people and not even realize till you might get to see them again.

After the family reunion/luncheon we met up with Dawn and Brad at a splash pad/small park river for the kids to play.  Oddly enough I had brought the swim stuff for the girls.  They had fun playing in the water but eventually got tire, hungry and cranky.  By this time it was almost 3 utah time and Hailey hadn’t napped at all and Emi only got a morning nap on the ride up to St. G.  It didn’t take them long to fall asleep in the car as we drove to Cedar.

We had a great weekend.  The boys, Joel, Brad and Braxton (age 4) all went hunting/shooting for rabbits.  They shot but didn’t hit much.  They enjoyed the man time while Dawn and I sat and watched the girls play in the backyard.  Hailey loved having someone to play with.

Dawn and Brad have a Vinyl shop and during halftime for the BYU/Boise football game Brad and Joel went and made Steelers Vinyl for Joel’s tool box and car.  Men… He was happy.  The next day Dawn and I took our turn creating things.  It was fun learning something new and helping out.  I now have signs to announce the bathroom, washroom, plenty of frogs of all colors to plaster all over my kitchen, and a few other fun sayings for around the house.  Most of it made out of vinyl scraps. :)

We were sad to leave but glad to be back in our own bed.  What!? We have a very comfortable king size memory foam bed.  It was a fun weekend.

Joel had fun this past week putting up the signs and trying to settle into the house.  We will probably be here a while.  Joel has 4 years of school to become a journeyman welder with his 2 year degree.  If he stays for the remaining 2 years, BS, will be determined later.  I’m sure the snow man can only handle soo much heat.

We have seriously lacked in the blog department but life has been busy.  Being sick for a whole week of work means extra work days for the remainder of the month.  You wouldn’t think that would be a big deal but last week I ordered pears to can and planned to can them on my day of.  Well no day off meant I had to can them at night.

We found out that Emi loves pears.  The hilarious pear story was the box of pears was sitting on the floor.  Emi apparently was hungry and we weren’t getting to her needs fast enough so she crawled over to the box looked in and grabbed a pear and proceeded to devour it.  All of it.  Plus 1/3 of another one.  It’s hilarious to see kids eat squishy fruit.

And yes, she ate the whole thing.

Picture of the kitchen with the frogs... it's still a work in progress since we ran out of frogs and need some artwork from Dana.  But it's getting there.

Dana is having a baby.  We had her gender reveal via skype.

Barret Jackson Classic Car Auction
The car auction was here in Vegas.  I decided to take Joel as a Happy Anniversary.  He enjoyed it.  We walked around for 2.5 hours and by then I was done and the girls were crankier than cranky.  There were some cool cars and trucks.  We weren't able to pin it down as to what type of car or truck I would be.  I found that I like the trucks with the wood side paneling.  Specific I know... Joel is a muscles car or certain type of truck.  I didn't get the best pictures, but we did find the perfect car for my mom.  ;)

A lime green bug. :) $20K little car.  Too expensive for my tastes.
