The Christmas Express

Western Elite dumpsters has started a new tradition.  They call it the Christmas Express.  They have collected many buildings, trains, train cars, tables, etc that companies have discarded and have put together a replica of the Polar Express.  You have to call and reserve your spot because it's becoming extremely popular and busy. We were fortunate enough to be able to go on the Military night and it wasn't near as busy.

There is no charge for the experience, you just have to drive the 70 miles out of town to get there. It was totally worth it.  I reserved 6 tickets but Ryan and Jillian weren't able to go.  I asked Journey if she and a friend or sibling wanted to go with.  She wanted to bring her younger brother Jordan.  We all loaded into the car after Joel got home from work and headed out.

It was cold and smelled like pigs or trash but we didn't care.  We got our tickets for the train and food.  Chili, corn bread, a cookie, and all the hot chocolate you need to try and keep warm.  Outside they had picnic benches set up, large bonfires, little train rides on the tennis court for the small children, decorations galore, and then of course the train depot where you waited for the Christmas Express train.  Inside the train depot, and it was an actual train depot that someone discarded, they had all kinds of decorations, a mime, a place to write Santa, and much more.  It was great.  All of the kids had a blast.  Emi absolute loves Journey and attached to her allowing me to enjoy the evening.  I think that is the thing I appreciated and loved the most, being able to actually enjoy the evening.

The train was an actual train car.  It was placed on a flatbed trailer and pulled by a semi truck.  They had two trains running in a circle.  The circle would take us around multiple displays with live people enjoying the snow, Santa's workshop at the North Pole, the Manger Scene and so much more.  After the train visited the North Pole Santa jumped on board and handed out a goodie bag to each of the children.  The conductor got people to sing Christmas songs.  It really was one of the best things I've done at Christmas time that brought the Christmas spirit.

The little train was Hailey's favorite part.  She would have rode and rode and rode.
