June's Adventures

Water Pad adventure at Borah Park... BRRRRR that was cold!  Hailey loves the water.  Bath time is one of her favorite night time routines.  She loves swimming at the Ymca and playing in the ball pool.  We figured we'd try out the the splash pad at Borah Park.  Megan, our next door neighbor suggested that she might take Keirsten, her 2 year old.  Those two love playing together so I thought why not?!  Hailey enjoyed being in and around the splashing water.  It was something new.  She didn't quite know what to think of it all at first but we braved the sprinkles and showed her to the small bubbling fountain.  I think it would have gone better if it wasn't windy... It was already cold water but that wind made it frigid!  She smiled and giggled through the shivers and we all just laughed.  There was one point where a large bucket above her head was slowly filling with water and finally dumped only a foot or so away from her.  She didn't realize what had almost happened but we did and laughed.  It would have been horrible yet hilarious.  Her reaction to just a couple cold splashes on her head was more than enough to make her whimper.  Earlier I had asked Joel if he wanted to come with and at first he said no because he had a few things to get done.  He'd ripped a hole in his last pair of work pants and really needed to go shopping.  He didn't know if he'd have time to do it all.  Fortunate for him, we got there a little after noon and she didn't last more than ten minutes!  He still had plenty of time to go pants shopping. :)

Hailey is enjoying her eating adventures.  She only has four teeth currently but she doesn't let that stop her.  Whatever we are eating, she wants to at least try.  Joel and I enjoy good sushi and that's one thing that I get pregnancy cravings for.  This time we gave her a few different rolls to try.  we did a traditional California roll, a hula roll which is basically crab mixed with a sweet sauce, then we also tried a 49er- tempera shrimp with avocado and chives.  It's interesting to watch her eat the seaweed.  She loves crab though!  Thank goodness for wonderful bibs that catch falling food!

What used to be a scary place has now become a favorite hiding/play place for Hailey.  Where the couch and the twin mattress in the living connect there is an opening of about 2.5 ft by 3 ft.  We usually pile the blankets and pillows in that corner.  So with all the blankets and pillows it makes for an awesome lounge pit.
Other fun pictures. Hailey knows what the camera is and is a total poser.  Since she usually is attracted to whatever I'm curently using I found her one of my old cameras from college.  Oddly enough, and amazingly enough it still works!  She's was pretty happy for that.  The other picture is Hailey and her Camelback drinking thermos.  We never introduced a sippy cup but instead went straight for a straw like container.  It didn't take her more than ten minutes to figure out how to use it. She's gotten better as the months have passed.  Sometimes when she's bored though she just sucks the water out and spits it! Yep, she's definitely got my personality in there.

Joel has been pestering me for months about going to see How to Train Your Dragon 2.  The closer it got the more antsy he got.  It's like the little kid waiting for the trip to the candy store.  He was supposed to work the Thursday and Friday that it first came out but luckily he didn't have to go in Friday.  With a total change in plans he begged and even found a babysitter for Hailey.  I found a couple coupons in our entertainment book so it made not as expensive.  I'm not a fan of most movies that come out these days.  They don't really entertain as much as disappoint.  Sequels are usually even worse, but I must say that HTTYD2 was quite enjoyable.  It had a good storyline and a couple twists. It even had some tear jerker moments.  It wasn't a continuation of the old/original story but another part of their continuing lives.  We really enjoyed it.  Joel can't wait for it to come to the cheap theatre... I'm sure he'll beg to go see that a few times before it comes out on DVD.  Then it will be the begging to buy the movie.  Oh my child in a man's body...

I decided that instead of posting just once a month, I'll try to do it at least twice.  That way there are pictures but also not a whole ton to read.  I know, busy busy people. I hope you've enjoyed watching Hailey grow with us.  She's only getting bigger but more importantly and scary she's getting smart!
