One Year Anniversary of Hailey (update pictures)

Hailey started attempting to walk around the 15th or 16th of May.  Just a couple weeks shy of her 1 year birthday.  She's also in the process of conquering getting off things now that she can get on them.   She made sure that before her first birthday she had both of those things mastered.

Joel got a motorcycle.  We looked at how much he was spending on gas each month driving to and from work with the Blazer not getting the greatest of gas mileage.  He's been pestering me about a mike for over a year now.  Last year it wasn't going to work because we only had the Blazer. Since then, my parents have given us their van so I would have a way of getting around.  So we are saying goodbye to the blazer and putting those funds towards the bike payments.  With a bike payment, insurance and gas for the motorcycle, it's still cheaper than what the blazer was costing.  I'm sure it will level out a little more once Joel doesn't have the itch to take a joy ride every day or every chance he gets.  But it's a new toy and he's still that little boy with a new bike. :)

Ammendment: Joel came home from his Sunday ride and as usual there's always a story that comes home with him.  "I was going for a ride up to Bogus Basin Ski Resort.  At the bottom there is a Shell gas station where I noticed that there were four sport bike riders.  I continued on my ride and made it about a quarter of the way up the hill when they all passed me.  The last rider, who was on a red and white Suzuki Hayabusa, turned back after passing me and tauntingly waved to me in a "keep up" gesture.  I obliged.  It was a very scary ride!  BUT I kept up with them till the top of the Basin.  My hands were shaking when I dismounted.  We sat and talked for a little while.  They said they had never seen a cruiser keep up with them that well.  One of them wanted to see how I would do on his bike.  So we took off down the hill.  I was then riding a 1200 CC Suzuki GXR or something like that.  Much bigger bike than mine.  When we turned around and headed back up I realized that I had a lot more bike than the guy I was riding with.  He was on a Yamaha R1.  I enjoyed passing him.  We sat around and talked for a little bit longer then headed back down the mountain.  We stopped at the shell station before parting ways.  There the lead rider gave me an open invitation to ride with them every Sunday at 2pm."  Needless to say, Joel came home with a smile on his face as though he'd just won the sushi lottery.

On another new joy note, obviously not near as adrenaline pumping.  Joel and I decided to test out luck at planting on our patio.  We started a month ago with two hanging flower plants.  I have remembered to water them, so believe it or not, they are growing like weeds.  It has been nice having something pretty, colorful, and green to look at instead of just our patio deck.  It's quite the sight though that we're creating.  Hailey's colorful foam mats create a fun footing, then we have the hanging plants.  We wanted to try out luck outside of the flower realm and with summer and gardening season upon us... well, we jumped on that bandwagon.  I figured that we'd try our luck with tomatoes.  We also had a couple extra small planter containers so we bought a few other plants.  Cherry tomatoes, another red eating tomato of some sort, basil, and parsley are what we have so far.

Joel also has the fishing bug...  Last year our neighbor, Bradden, introduced him to bow fishing.  He's been antsy to go back ever since.  With Memorial Day and summer days, the itch is back and in full force.  He and a couple of friends are going fishing finally.  It will be Hailey's first time as well.  I'm sure she'll just want to play in the water and get into things. Until she realizes how cold the water is.  Unfortunately, Hailey first fishing adventure has yet to happen.  She spiked a fever Sunday night and spent Memorial Monday cuddling on the couch, me, and sleeping to Disney movies.
