We went to Hobby Lobby. I hadn't been to that place and thought we'd check it out. I was looking at different paint sets. There's the Crayola set and then other sets and then even more sets that seems aimed at adults. I was talking on the phone with Dana asking what the difference was. I didn't realize that Emi had sticky fingers and had grabbed a box and was about to eat it. Chalk! Hailey pointed out that Emi was eating something. Emi didn't think it tasted very good. Who knew chalk was so disolvable!
I picked a paint set for Hailey and some paint brushes and we headed home.
I never thought that I would actually like painting. I had purchase a dollar store coloring book. I had originally purchase them for Hailey, but I sat down and started painting and I was hooked. This was great! My sewing machine was down and this was something that I could do to release stress and enjoy down time.
It wasn't long after getting the new paints that we headed up to Utah. I was taking a sewing machine up to Grandpa to fix it. I told Dana we were going to be headed up and that she should come down to visit. She agreed.
It started out as a good trip. The sewing machine needed some serious lubrication and a gear needed to be replaced. Plus I needed another learning lesson on how to do bindings. I've been working on this quilt for a few months. It was just finished being quilted.
Dana came down for the day and needed the break. After talking she decided that she could stay the night and head back up to her house the next day. Since she was staying it was decided that we had to do the usual things when we went to Grandpas. That meant Ice Cream at Ideal Dairy in Richfield and Hotdogs and Smores over the fire. The girls, had a good time playing with Lucy. Lucy is growing out of the baby stage.
Hailey had a great time "feeding the fire" with Grandpa. She got really upset with Margaret would let her run around with the hot dog skewers. She said, "She takes my stick!" To this day it still upsets her. lol
After hot dogs we made smores. Margaret bough fudge stripped cookies. Then you just squish the marshmallow in between and it makes a smore cookie vs the mess of actual graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows.
We had decided that since Dana came down to visit and obviously needed some adult interaction and sister time that I would come up to West Valley for the evening and we'd go to Corn Bellies. Dana had purchased a season pass but hadn't been able to use it like she's wanted to because she had Lucy. I suggested she have Thomas watch Lucy and we'd go to Corn Bellies. There was an hour difference in when we needed to leave and when Thomas would get home. A babysitter for that hour filled in.
Dana, myself and the girls headed to Corn Bellies. Emi wasn't feeling the greatest at this point. On the drive up I had looked on KSL classifieds and found a Tula carrier for a great price. This became a life saver towards the end of the night when Emi was tired and cranky. She hadn't been feeling good since that morning. She woke up and fell back asleep on the couch. She ate breakfast and had a super blow out diaper. After a bath she got dressed and laid down on the floor for another nap.
Dana had a blast. We played in the corn pit, went on rides, ate carnival food, and ended the night with pumpkins and kettle corn. Dana got her funnel cake and devoured it! It was good to have a couple days to hang out as sisters. It was a blast of a night. Hailey and Emi loved the Kettle Corn but they were just too tired to be able to eat it by the time we made it back to Dana's place. It was a good trip.
