Abby comes to visit.

The middle of July, life started to get crazy and complicated.  I had scheduled a flight up to Washington to visit my parents and have some dental work done.  I had asked Journey if she could watch the girls on the two days when Joel would be at work.  Unfortunately Journey injured her knee at girls camp a couple weeks before I was supposed to fly out.  I search frantically for someone to watch the girls and was about ready to cancel my flight when while trying to nap I had a thought:  What about Abby?

I called Jaime to run the idea past her and she said it would work and Abby was super excited.  I looked at Allegiant flights and found a cheap one.  Then I realized that Allegiant doesn't fly minors solo.  That cheap option was out.  Then we checked Delta... ok more expensive but could still make it work.  Then when trying to book the flight I was informed that since she would be an unaccompanied minor she would have to be watched over by the unaccompanied minor program and there was a $150 fee each way.  I called Jaime stressed because things were getting more complicated and more expensive.  Jaime said she'd cover the expense because Abby was just that excited to come.  Then more complications came because as an unaccompanied minor, Abby couldn't take the last flight of the day just in case there was a delay or something happened.  Great!  Eventually we got Abby's flight scheduled and she made it to Vegas.   Since she didn't have to be back for school until mid August she decided to stay for 3 weeks, not just the time I needed to have her watch the girls.  She was excited.  Joel was excited.  The girls were excited.  It was a win/win for everyone.

While Abby was here we tried to make the best of her time in Vegas.  At first she was overwhelmed trying to watch the girls by herself, but once I got back from Washington and she wasn't the only one with the girls, he homesickness went away and she had a good time.
